We started talking about it y-day. Plan is to actually go there this year :)

Some details first:

Oktoberfest take place on Saturday, September 17th - Monday, October 3rd in Munich/Germany :D

All the tents are booked already so not possible to make a reservation.
You can still enter the tent even with no reservation but there's no guarantee that you'll get a place.

Direct flights to Munich are around 200e for return (Lufthansa) (23.09-25.09)
Accommodation will probably cost another 200e for 2 nights (trivago.ie) (23.09-25.09)

What do you think?

I had heard it's not worth doing without a tent. You end up stuck with a bunch of puking Americans (actually I experienced that when it wasn't Oktoberfest :)).
Issues with your membership? PM me!

I've been 4 times you need a reservation guys, otherwise it's puking Aussies and yanks. Very monochrome beer style though :(

Saw a guy "spray" a crowd from one of these once as well

I like your thought process though, Europe is full of amazing beer festivals.

Yep, if not Oktoberfest then something else, cheaper with better beer selection :)

I've heard Stuttgart's festival is a great one to go to and not as mental as Munich. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannstatter_Volksfest

Munich itself is a great spot too though, lovely in the summer. Only gripe is the same as CH's, the choice of beer is nearly always lager or wheat. Only respite I found was in Schneider's taproom.  I think craft beer is seeping into Germany more now though so things might be getting better.

Zythos in Leuven is a great festival. Last year there were over 100 Belgian brewers and more than 500 beers to try. It's on in a couple of weeks though so you'll need to get your skates on.

Why don't we just have a word with the Old Boro and have our own beers plus theirs in September??

We just need to crank up the "Partridge Weizzen Braueri"!
Remember: The Nationals are just round the corner - time to get brewing
