hi Will

Thanks for that my searches did not throw up anything (guess I was not searching for the right terms). I already have a,tower to attach the tap to so just need the the,tap itself.

Norm on ebay has some nice chrome ones at the moment.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CORNELIUS-TYPE-CHROME-TAP-/321062310524?pt=Home_Brew&hash=item4ac0ce127c&_uhb=1 he sent me one. I havent used it yet but seems ok. He'll send it here if you ask. I have his email address if you want it. I got a full connection kit so no messing ordering extra fittings.

Just to be clear:

A stout ( aka G. ) tap has two little extras - a plastic widget (flow straightner ??)  and a micro perforated plate above it. These sit in the black plastic nozzle and are responsible for the G. head

QuoteJust ordered one of those to see what it's like. If it's as good as it looks I'll sell my other taps. Didn't work out too bad either, about €45 delivered via Parcel Motel.

Thanks for the heads up, rukkus!

Are you hoping to get a stout tap????

AFIK: This is NOT a stout tap!!!

You sure did ;)

Bit confused about this not being a stout tap...? It seems the same as the guinness tap i bought from someone  ::)

Here is the inside of the spout on mine. I did check before I ordered so maybe he added it after I requested but I doubt it :)

Hi Tube and Rukkus,

Sorry I am a tad confused, are either of you able to confirm whether the tap referenced on the thread by Rukkus is actually a stout tap?

Hi Rukkus,

Have had issues with images being too big, limit is 1.5MB for image uploads.

Hi Shane,

While I understand the desire to save space, not sure I agree about a 400K limit being huge ;-) Try taking a photo with a smart phone that is this size. Any chance of getting something on the site that would down scale the images automatically?

I can hear you cursing me as you read this!!! Thinking of perl script wrapping ffmpeg or something similar.

Declan

QuoteAttachment limit is now back to 400k which is still HUGE! It was 1.5MB temporarily for the purposes of uploading competition documents, PDFs and the like.

Yea its not the file size thats an issue its the resolution. Images need to be scaled down to fit nicely.

Use imgur.com & upload your pics to there first. Then select the large thumbnail option & copy & paste the link. Simple.

Or photobucket

Post by: rukkus on January 30, 2013, 11:18:19 PM
I agree 100% with the above but the issue i have is if i attach an image i have to guess the size and crop it on my phone or whatever.

This allows huge images to appear and make threads look weird. The techie in me says auto resize images.

The brewer in me says, lets focus on making beer   ;D

No worries, minor irritation at best that can be worked around.

As an aside about the space, will you be starting to archive/remove old posts and threads after a certain amount of time or when you reach the 20GB limit will you just pay Another9 for additional storage?

Declan

QuoteThe only downside to uploading elsewhere and linking is that if something changes on the image hosters end we end up with broken links.

Seriously guys, we have 20GB of storage (for now) at our disposal, so we'd be aswell to use it (wisely).

Thats very strange on the lack of a plate. If ordering more ask him for one and he'll include one. He did for me anyway :)

These look great. Currently looking to get my hands on a stout tap and if these have the restrictor disk, they'd be perfect.

Tube, is the shaft and threading the same as on the group buy flow control taps?

Co-incidence, as only half an hour ago I ordered 2 more of these.

The bad news is that they are completely different to the group buy taps, in every way. Shank is slightly smaller in diameter, and they use 1/4" John Guest fittings instead of 3/8" barbs.

Dang, I'd need these to screw into a beer tap tower like the other taps. The shank doesn't need to be too long but if the threading/diameter is different, they're probably no good to me, I'd need to work out how to make them compatible.

How are you making them work with your current setup given that the diameters are different? New holes!!

They look like very nice taps, but I'd don't know if I could live without flow control!

Thanks for the info Tube. Very nice looking taps alright
Decided to take the plunge and try one, might be some way I can make it work with the tower.
If not, I'll find a use for it. Worst comes to worst, I'll sell it on.

I asked Norm regarding the restrictor disk (i.e. is it a nitro tap) also, and he said the taps have one

QuoteAny thoughts on a way to add flow control to these?

Not sure if its possible, other than longer beer line/smaller diameter line to increase resistance but it wont really give you the on the fly control that you normally get with the valve.

My tap just arrived, they're very good quality. Can also confirm that my tap came with the restrictor disk.

Pic of the restrictor disk incase anyone is curious, the one currently on this thread is a little blurry...
